Where music is read, practised and made

Musivelle is a single home for learners, teachers and working musicians: a score that keeps pace with you, a studio to shape the sound, and a desk to guide a pupil. We are preparing it with care, and shall open the doors when it is ready.

See what is coming

Everything below is live. Sound begins only when you ask for it.

Late Hour, a jazz study in C

Original, written for this page. Piano, upright bass, guitar and ride cymbal.

138

Guitar

The same chords as the piano, strummed four to the bar. The boxes and the board show where each finger goes.

Touch any note, fret number or key to hear it. Original music, written for this page; no published score is reproduced.

Theory

Three examination boards, one home

Learn each topic in a short lesson, practise it with graded questions set in the manner of Trinity, ABRSM and Rockschool, then sit a timed practice paper and watch your progress grow, grade by grade from 1 to 8. Notation appears wherever the question needs it. Every answer is marked at once and explained kindly. These are original practice questions, not past papers, and Musivelle is not affiliated with any examination board.

Original practice questions in the manner of each board. Musivelle is not affiliated with Trinity College London, ABRSM or Rockschool (RSL).

Practice question

Beyond a round of ten

Focus round

Ten questions that give extra time to the topics that need it most, with a gentle revisit of anything you have not seen lately.

Mock paper

A timed practice paper of thirty questions, with the answers and a clear summary at the end. It is practice only and carries no official marks.

Practise room

Graded practice

Choose guitar, piano or voice, then your grade from 1 to 8. Work through technical studies with fretboard and keyboard diagrams and fingering you can trust, read a fresh piece at sight, test yourself with quick questions, follow a practice plan and rate your progress honestly. Everything is original music written for Musivelle. The microphone is optional, and every part works without it.

Opening the practice room.

Whatever you play

Four rooms, one house

What we are preparing. Details may change before we open.

Practise

A score that keeps pace

Slow a passage, loop the difficult bars and let the page follow your playing, so that the time goes to the music rather than to the fuss.

Theory

Grade theory, kindly taught

Learn each topic, practise graded questions with notation in the manner of Trinity, ABRSM and Rockschool, take a timed practice paper and follow your progress from Grade 1 to Grade 8.

Teach

A desk for the teacher

Set a piece, a tempo and a due date, and see how the practice went, with every pupil kept gently in view.

Opening soon

We are tuning up.

Until the doors open, here is an A, as the orchestra would give it.
